Familiar — Tarot Card Reading App

Overview

Familiar is a tarot card reading app built with a local-first philosophy. Most of your data stays on your device. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Data We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your user ID and, on first sign-up only, your name and email. This is used solely to create and maintain your account.

Reading & Chat Data

Your card draws, reading history, journal reflections, and chat conversations are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers unless you use AI interpretation features.

AI Features

When you request an AI interpretation or chat with the AI, the cards drawn and your question are sent to our server to generate a response. Conversation context may also be sent to build a personalized AI memory profile tied to your account.

Purchase Information

In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We receive confirmation of your entitlements but never see your payment details.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • Location data
  • Contacts or photos
  • Device identifiers for advertising
  • Analytics or tracking data — we use no third-party analytics SDKs

Third-Party Services

We rely on the following services:

  • Supabase — authentication and serverless functions for AI features
  • Apple Sign-In — identity verification
  • Google Sign-In — identity verification
  • Apple StoreKit — in-app purchase processing

Each service is governed by its own privacy policy. We do not sell or share your data with any other third parties.

Data Storage & Security

Local data is stored in your device's sandboxed storage. Server-side data is stored in Supabase with row-level security, meaning only you can access your own records. All network communication uses HTTPS encryption.

Your Rights

You can:

  • Delete your account and all associated server data from within the app
  • Clear your local reading history at any time
  • Use the app without AI features, keeping all data on-device

Children's Privacy

Familiar is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
